Group purchase of energy projects

This project was part of a group purchase of solar panels for industrial companies, which was supervised by the independent energy consulting firm Encon, based in Bilzen. Following a comprehensive study of both the technical and financial feasibility, 1.344 solar panels were installed on the roofs by the firm Izen. Encon took away all the hassle for us, from concept to realization. The unique approach meant that the focus was on reducing costs without compromising on quality. "The project accounts for a quantity of energy equivalent to the annual consumption of 114 households. The installation avoids 3.600 tons of CO2 emissions over 20 years – equivalent to the action of 14 hectares of forest or 7.000 trees", explains Pieter-Jan Loyens of Encon, who supervised the project from A to Z.

ECO character

In addition to generating energy from solar panels, wastewater is recovered in an ecologically responsible manner. During the polishing process, 650 m³ of water is purified every day by an internal water plant that filters wastewater into reusable water. Sludge is released during this polishing process. The sludge is dried to form a powdery substance and then processed into cassettes and foundations for road construction. In 2019, a total of 7.254 tonnes was incorporated into Flemish roads.

BIO-UV technology

Where the sun's rays used to be a problem for our quartz composite slabs, this is no longer the case. By adding UV stabilizers to our resins, Diresco quartz composite discolors less quickly compared to other quartz composite panels. Moreover, the resins are made from vegetable oils, so they are also better for the environment. By combining these two elements, we produce sustainable materials in an environmentally friendly way that lasts for generations. D-Quartz is mainly processed into kitchen worktops but is also perfectly suitable for shower trays, floor tiles, stair coverings, fireplace coverings or even outdoor kitchens.

Diresco in 2030

Every day we strive towards better, more sustainable and environmentally-friendly products. In addition to raw materials, we also carefully look at our production processes. By 2030, we aim to be a more CO2 neutral company, via self-sufficient energy sources!
